Is Apple Falling Behind in the cell phone display game?

Forbes recently examined the use of OLEDs in cell phones, specifically in the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and Apple's iPhone 6 and 6S Plus. 

Raymon Soneria, the display experts at DisplayMate Technologies, states that OLEDs are better than LCDs due to multiple factors including their weight, better color accuracy, image contrast, faster response time, better viewing angels and the list goes on and on and on. 

So why is Apple not jumping on the bandwagon? One major problem facing Apple is the quantities they need in order to meet production needs. In 2015, Apple shipped 160 million iPhones. Additionally, Samsung dominates the manufacturing of both rigid and flexible smartphone OLEDs.

When will Apple make the switch? Will it be in 2017?
