  • Dr. Sang-Hun Choi

    OLED Senior Scientist Pixelligent

    Prior to joining Pixelligent Technologies LLC in 2017, Dr. Choi was with CREOL, University of Central Florida (Orlando, Florida), which is a world leader of research and education of optics. He worked LG Display (Seoul, Korea) since 2007, to research, product planning and technology strategy of OLED. He received his BS and Ph.D. in Material Science Engineering from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea) in 2002 and 2007.

  • Dr. Neetu Chopra

    Device Technology Manager Kateeva

    Dr. Chopra joined Kateeva in 2014. She serves as Device Technology Manager in the Process Engineering Group. In this role, Dr. Chopra manages the operations and staff of device fabrication lines, as well as projects on thin film encapsulation, baseline process development, statistical process control, innovation, and staff development. She also provides technical support for key joint development activities with partners and customers.


    Before Kateeva, Dr. Chopra was a Scientist at Plextronics (now Solvay) in Pittsburgh, where she managed the device science and physics group to provide device characterization and analysis support for materials development at the company. She was a key contributor to Plexcore® product development and knowledge transfer from research phase to process development.


    Dr. Chopra earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Polymer Science and Chemical Technology from Delhi College of Engineering in 2005 while working at National Physical Laboratory, Delhi, India on various organic electronics related projects. She earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida at Gainesville in 2009. She is a member of Society of Information Displays (SID) and the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE). She has authored 20 publications in top journals, with 700+ citations, 8 patent applications and 30+ conference presentations.

  • Dr. Jennifer Colegrove

    CEO and Principal Analyst Touch Display Research, Inc.

    Dr. Jennifer K. Colegrove is the CEO and principal analyst of Touch Display Research Inc. (www.TouchDisplayResearch.com), a market research and consulting firm focus on touch screen and emerging display technologies. She writes reports and performs consulting projects on touch screen and display technologies, including touch screens, ITO replacement, Quantum dot, near-eye displays, flexible displays, OLED displays, OLED lighting, e-paper displays, touchless HMI, gesture control, voice control, eye control.

    Before founded Touch Display Research, Dr. Colegrove was the former Vice President at DisplaySearch (acquired by IHS) for over 4 years, and senior analyst at iSuppli (acquired by IHS) for 2 years.

    Prior to that, Colegrove performed due diligence for Intel Capital, the venture capital arm of Intel, as a senior display engineer.

    Dr. Colegrove has been a featured speaker and session chairperson at over 70 conferences world wide.

    Jennifer Kong Colegrove has a Ph.D. from Liquid Crystal Institute at Kent State University in Ohio, Master and Bachelor degree from Beijing University.

  • Dr. Martin Denker

    Division Scientist 3M

    Dr. Martin Denker is a Division Scientist in 3M’s Display Materials and Systems Division, which has been supplying the display industry with innovative display enhancement products for many years. Dr. Denker has been a key developer of Advanced Polarizer Films (APF) for improved brightness and color uniformity of liquid crystal display for nearly 20 years. He is currently leading the development of new products for the OLED industry.

    Dr. Denker received his BS in Chemistry and his PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Akron.

  • Dr. Mike Hack

    GM OLED Lighting & Custom Displays, Vice President Universal Display Corporation

    Dr. Michael Hack, is Vice-President of Business Development at Universal Display Corporation.  He is responsible for developing and commercializing advanced high efficiency next generation OLED products, with a special focus on flexible display applications and solid-state lighting.  Prior to joining UDC in 1999, he was associated with dpiX, a Xerox Company, where he was responsible for manufacturing flat panel displays and digital medical imaging products based on amorphous silicon TFT technology.   Dr. Hack received his Ph. D. degree from Cambridge University, England in 1981 and in 2007 Dr. Hack was elected a Fellow of the Society for Information Display. In 2014 Dr. Hack was nominated to serve on the board of the U.S. OLED Lighting Coalition to promote the advancement and commercialization of OLED lighting.

  • Dr. Andreas Haldi

    Dr. Andreas Haldi received a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland and a Ph.D in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA). From there, Andreas accepted a position as Customer Project Manager in R&D at Novaled in Dresden (Germany) before opening an office for Novaled in Seoul (South Korea) as Customer Support Manager. Andreas Haldi joined CYNORA in August 2016 to lead the promotion and sales activities of CYNORA´s products.

  • John Hamer, Ph.D

    Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer OLEDWorks LLC

    Dr. John Hamer, is co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of OLEDWorks, an OLED lighting panel manufacturer in Rochester NY.  OLEDWorks was founded in 2010 and in 2015 OLEDWorks acquired the assets of the Philips OLED lighting business in Aachen Germany, giving the company two complementary manufacturing lines on two continents.  Dr. Hamer has been working in the OLED business since 1999 at the Eastman Kodak Company including 3 years in Japan as the Senior Manager of the Technology Department at Sanyo-Kodak Display (SKD) which produced the world's first AM-OLED products on the world’s first AM-OLED manufacturing line.  He has 36 granted US patents in the area of OLED product design and process technology.

    Dr. Hamer earned his Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

  • Naomi Johnson Miller, FIES, FIALD, LC

    Designer/Senior Scientist Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

    Naomi Miller has survived 5 years at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Portland OR as a designer/scientist in the solid state lighting program. Working to bridge the gap between technology and application, she is promoting the wise use of LEDs, and working with industry to overcome the hurdles where LEDs are not ready for prime time. Some people call her The Flicker Queen, some with humor, some without.

    She has too many years of experience working in different facets of the lighting industry, but still finds lighting to be an ever-advancing field with creative challenges. Over 30 architectural lighting design awards hang on her wall, for projects ranging from churches to university science buildings, boutique hotels, supermarkets, and parking lots.  She chaired the Illuminating Engineering Society’s (IESNA) Quality of the Visual Environment committee for 8 years and was a principal member of the writing team for the IES’s  Light + Design:  A Guide to Designing Quality Lighting for People and Buildings.  She is a Fellow of the IESNA and Fellow of the IALD. 

    Research Interests:

    Lighting quality, the aging eye, health effects of light, dark skies, sustainability and energy efficiency are her passions.

    Mr. Lipman is a Strategic Alliances Manager at imec, a Belgian nanoelectronics R&D institute. Prior to joining imec, he worked as a consultant, most recently for inVentiv Health, covering technology development and commercialization, with a focus on medical devices and imaging. He previously worked for several biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. He currently serves as a business advisor for technology start-ups and accelerator programs in Southern California. Mr. Lipman holds degrees in Molecular Biology and Immunology from UCLA, and is based in Los Angeles.

    His experience includes head of Marketing for B2B Display as well as managing the B2B business of local sales company in Italy, South Africa and Russia.

  • Peter Y. Ngai

    Vice President, OLED Lighting Design Center Acuity Brands Lighting Inc.

    Peter Ngai is the Vice President of Research and Development, Acuity Brands Lighting. Peter’s work includes areas in Photometry, Solar Illumination, Brightness and Glare Research, Lighting Optics, and Luminaire design and development among others.

    Peter holds over 50 patents in lighting design, luminaire optics and luminaire designs. He also has written many articles on subjects relating to lighting and lighting applications.

    His work in luminaire design has resulted in numerous awards for Acuity Brands Lighting including the Most Innovative Product Award at Lightfair International, Philadelphia in May 2011.

    Currently, Peter’s area of focus is in Solid-State Lighting, particularly OLED Lighting.

  • Bob O’Brien

    Robert J (Bob) O’Brien has decades of experience turning market and business analysis into strategic insights in the display and electronics industries.  In June 2016 Bob launched Display Supply Chain Consultants as Co-Founder and President.  DSCC provides insights and analysis in markets and technology covering the entire display supply chain industry.  Within DSCC, Bob specializes brands and retail trends for display products, display materials, and glass makers.

    Prior to DSCC, Bob spent 10 years leading intelligence groups at Corning.  As Director of Market Intelligence and Strategy for Corning Glass Technologies, Bob developed an intelligence infrastructure to inform pricing strategy, product development, marketing communications, and customer service strategy, and developed external communications for investors and customers to realize strategic Corning’s industry leading position. 

    Prior to Corning, Bob worked in engineering, product marketing, finance, and business intelligence for Philips Display Components and LG.Philips Displays.  At Philips, Bob led a multi-division team evaluating potential opportunities in large display technologies, with comparative market and technology analysis of LCD, PDP, CRT, and projection.

    Bob holds a BS in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.

  • Nick Pugliano

    Nick Pugliano, MBA, PhD.  Business Director.  Dr. Pugliano is a technology and business leader whose career has spanned numerous roles within global manufacturing and electronic material firms.  His areas of expertise include: semiconductors, packaging and assembly, optical and electrical interconnects, conductive plastics, printing technologies and display materials.   He is responsible for strategy & account engagement models to develop advanced material solutions for use in state-of-the-art consumer electronics.  Prior to joining Dow Electronic Materials in March of 2016, he held general management and CTO roles within assembly and component firms.  Nick holds a PhD in Chemical Physics from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Babson College.

    Abstract.   This contribution will review case studies of various material breakthroughs that are enabling the next generation of brilliant displays with new form factors.  The lecture will highlight advances in OLED materials that have resulted in significant improvements in operating voltage, lifetime and efficiency for current and next generation displays.   Additionally, photo-luminescent and electro-luminescent properties of cadmium-free quantum dots and their devices will be discussed with an emphasis on achieving the ultimate color gamut in an environmentally sustainable manner.  Finally, our efforts related to elastomeric materials for bendable, foldable & flexible form factors will be described.

  • Michele Ricks

    Business Development Manager, OLED Materials EMD Performance Materials Corp., a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany

    Michele joined EMD Performance Materials Corp., a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, in 2010 as a Business Development Manager specializing in OLED and quantum materials. She works closely with customers and partners to advance OLED technology for displays and lighting. Michele has more than 15 years’ experience in the OLED industry, working with manufacturers worldwide. She was part of the team that successfully launched production of the world’s first Active Matrix OLED display, which won the industry’s 2002 Display of the Year Gold Award and the 2003 Silver Award as part of the Kodak LS633 digital camera.  Michele has led several commercialization projects, bringing new materials to market. She has led or participated in technology teams focused on OLED stack design, encapsulation and lighting.  Additionally, Michele leads the OLED Coalition, an industry alliance promoting market adoption of OLED lighting in the US. She holds 19 granted US patents in the areas of OLED materials, processes and device architecture.

  • Dr. Martin Rosenblum

    Dr. Martin Rosenblum is Vice President of Engineering at Vitriflex Inc. He is responsible for barrier films for OLED devices, QD laminates, and solar modules. Prior to joining Vitriflex in 2013, he was Vice President at Samsung Display Corporation in South Korea where he established the technical and manufacturing vision for encapsulation for flexible OLED displays.

  • Christopher J. Savoie, Ph.D., J.D.,

    CEO Kyulux

    Dr. Christopher Savoie, CEO of Kyulux, is a seasoned technology executive, licensed attorney, and scientist.  Prior to Kyulux, he was Senior Manager of Global Enterprise Architecture at Nissan where he oversaw the company’s efforts in deep learning, big data analytics, IoT, and cloud computing.  Dr. Savoie began his technology career in Japan where he founded Atmark, one of Japan’s first Internet and network consulting firms and later became founder and CEO of Dejima, where he invented and commercialized the agent-oriented artificial intelligence paradigm that became the technology behind Apple’s Siri.  After Dejima, Dr. Savoie returned to Japan, where he founded and brought public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange a pharmaceutical company, Gene Networks International (GNI), that utilized his inventions in Bayesian data inference from large scale genomic data to develop and validate novel pharmaceuticals.  Dr. Savoie received his doctorate in medicine from Kyushu University and his J.D. from the Nashville School of Law. He has served as a visiting scholar, guest lecturer, and Ph.D. supervisor at the University of Tokyo, Stanford University, and the University of Cambridge and is a lifetime Fellow of Kyushu University.  Dr. Savoie is a highly published scholar in medicine, drug discovery, and computer science and holds several U.S. and international patents in these fields.  Savoie was previously named by MIT Technology Review to the original TR100 list of young innovators to watch in the 21st century.

  • Yamada Takeshi

    Group Manager, Polymer OLED Material Development Sumitomo Chemical

    Takeshi Yamada holds a Master’s degree in Polymer Science from Kyoto University. He has been with Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd. for over 20 years. Takeshi first worked in Petrochemical R&D before moving to the polymer OLED material development lab in the Tsukuba Laboratory, where he has been working for over 10 years. In 2008 he became a project manager of OLED material. At this time Sumitomo’s merger with DOW’s OLED division and the acquisition of CDT took place. He has developed close relationships with several partners for soluble OLED development.

    Werner Thomas graduated in in the field of electrcial engineering and informations technology in Ingolstadt, Germany. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Electrical Power Processing group at the Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. His focus are Solid-State-Lighting technologies for automotive applications.

    Since 2012, he is project manager for OLED lighting  at AUDI AG, responsible for OLED series projects and technology development.

  • Michael Törker

    Michael Törker studied physics at the Technical University of Dresden and received his PhD in 2003. Since 2002 he has been working at the Fraunhofer Institute in Dresden in the field of technology development for Organic Light Emitting Diodes.

  • Robert Visser, Ph.D.

    Managing Director, Advanced Chemistry and Materials Applied Materials, Inc.

    Dr. Robert Visser is managing director of advanced chemistry and materials for the Advanced Technology Group at Applied Materials, Inc. He is responsible for creating business opportunities in new and adjacent markets related to future displays, AR and VR,  roll-to-roll barrier films, as well as developing novel chemistries for semiconductor manufacturing.

    For more than 30 years, Dr. Visser has pioneered research and commercialization of display technologies related to thin film transistors, LCD materials, barrier films (including encapsulation materials), OLED and flexible displays. Prior to joining Applied, he was CTO of Vitex Systems, where he guided the company through conceiving and demonstrating the feasibility of multi-layer thin film encapsulation technology, to the industrialization of its manufacturing equipment and transformation into a technology licensing company. Dr. Visser also spent 18 years in various roles at Philips Research, including CEO and CTO of the PolyLED business. Received a Special Award from SID in 2016 for his work on OLED and Thin Film Encapsulation.

    Dr. Visser holds a master’s degree in theoretical organic chemistry and physics, and a Ph.D. in physical and organic chemistry, both from Leiden University, Netherlands.

  • Joon Young YANG, Ph.D

    Head of OLED Advanced Research Division 1 LG Display

    Joon Young YANG, Ph.D. joined LG Electronics at 1995 and had been a team leader at LG
    Display for 9 years with TFT process, devices and panel designs. Since 2016, YANG
    positioned a head of advanced research div. 1 with responsibility of OLED device,
    transparent OLED panel and flexible OLED panel.

    During the team leader, YANG had developed various kinds of high ppi panels; the world first
    QXGA panel for iPad, ~400 ppi FHD with a-Si, ~700 ppi with LTPS for smart phone, etc. And
    also, YANG has studied a-Si, LTPS, and AOS device since 1995.
    YANG received a doctor degree and a master degree in electric engineering from Korea Univ.,
    Seoul, Korea.

  • Eddie Yeo

    President/ Chief Marketing Officer LG Display

    Eddie Yeo has been working for display industry for about 40 years. He worked for LG Electronics and LG Phillips LCD handling mobile, monitor, LCD, and OLED panels. He may be the person who has been working for LG Display for the longest years. He was responsible for CTO and head of OLED Business Unit. And now he is Chief Marketing Officer and also president of KIDS (Korean Information Display Society). He is now focusing on marketing/promotion activities of the cutting-edge OLED display technology.
